Women of Reign

Monique and Sherry have widely varying backgrounds, even their equestrian experiences differ.  But what they share is passion: for horses; for community; for quality products; for Reign.

Monique...

is a Niagara native, having lived in many different areas of the region, her home is now in Fenwick, down the street (a country mile) from Reign.

She began riding at the age of 10, and her initial riding style was Western.  She was a very successful barrel racer and enjoyed participating in competitions held by the regional saddle clubs.  After taking time off for her career as an HR professional and to have her son Burke, Monique is back in the saddle and trying her hand at dressage.  Her entrepeneurial spirit has been fostered through the years by the family business that her mother built from the ground up.  Being a business owner is in her blood.

Sherry...

grew up in Thunder Bay where she started riding as a little girl.  She remembers spending countless hours on the trail with her mom while learning all aspects of horse care and horsemanship in helping to care for the many horses she and her family owned over the years.  She moved to Calgary to ride horses and while she was there, she developed a passion for the art of dressage. Sherry and her family (husband Scott, daughter Hanna & son Liam), moved to the Niagara region in 2007 and have fallen in love with all it has to offer.  She left behind her career as a Child & Youth Worker to take on the exciting challenge of being a small business owner.

Monique & Sherry...

met not even a year ago.  They both had a dream to start a retail business in Niagara.  Monique owns the beautiful character home of 1412 Pelham that Reign is housed in, so it only made sense to use it as the backdrop for what is now Reign Equestrian & Athletics.  In a world of faceless and impersonal box stores, Sherry and Monique dreamt of creating a sanctuary in which people could feel at home, while enjoying a hot drink and browsing through a host of unique and beautiful products.  This has grown to be a reality, and is now what is fondly referred to as the "REIGN EXPERIENCE".
